Who’s Gonna Miss Out on NWSL Playoff Spot?

So, like, the Futbol W crew is all up in arms about who’s gonna miss out on that sweet NWSL playoff spot. Jeff Kassouf, who covers women’s soccer for ESPN, was all like, “Let’s debate this, guys!” And so, here we are, trying to figure out who’s gonna be left in the dust.

The Kansas City Current just smashed a new NWSL record for points in a season with a sick 2-0 win over Gotham FC at CPKC Stadium. They got a crazy 62 points now, beating out the old record of 60 points set by Orlando Pride last year. The Current are straight-up killing it this season, leading the table by a massive 19 points over second-placed Washington. A Bia Zaneratto header got them the lead at half-time, and then Temwa Chawinga, the top scorer in the league, came off the bench to seal the deal with another goal. The Current have been breaking records left and right this season, and they ain’t playing around. With 20 wins under their belt, they’re looking like the most dominant team in NWSL history. And let’s not forget about their keeper, Lorena, who set her own record with 14 shutouts this season. These girls are on fire, and they’re definitely not gonna be missing out on that playoff spot.
