Whitehawk FC, a non-league team currently playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division in Brighton, is gearing up for a major stadium redevelopment project. The club, celebrating its 80th anniversary, is set to undergo significant changes that will elevate its facilities to the next level. One of the key upgrades includes a complete rebuild of the stadium, along with the installation of a modern 3G pitch.
The redevelopment plan also encompasses the addition of a small gym for boxing and fitness clubs, a refurbished clubhouse with a bar, a new suite for hosting events, and a dedicated fan zone. The club is also focusing on enhancing the entrance, parking, and security infrastructure, before introducing the new 3G pitch equipped with state-of-the-art floodlights. Work has already commenced on constructing the fan zone, dubbed The Hawks Social, which will serve as a vibrant hub for street food vendors, local musicians, DJs, and community events.
Joint-chairman of Whitehawk FC, John Summers, emphasized the broader impact of the redevelopment project, stating, “This is about more than bricks and mortar, it’s about creating a space that brings people together, inspires the next generation, and provides vital resources to one of the UK’s most understated areas.” With the support of Brighton & Hove City Council, local businesses, and the community, the club aims to set a new benchmark for what a community football club can achieve. The expansion plans include doubling the size of the current stand on the west side of the ground, replacing the scaffolded frame behind the goals with new stands, and adding a covered stand on the east side to improve accessibility for fans.
