Basketball dude Jarred Shaw has somehow ended up in an Indonesian slammer after getting caught up in a sketchy drug deal. The US baller is staring down the barrel of life in the clink or even the ol’ death penalty for having a measly $400 worth of cannabis gummies on him. Jarred, a 35-year-old fella from Dallas, Texas, used to hoop it up for the Utah State Aggies back in the day before bouncing around to different teams all over the globe. He landed in Indonesia in 2022 to play for Prawira Bandung, and then bounced around to a couple more teams before his life took a serious nosedive.

The poor guy got busted back in May when a bunch of undercover cops nabbed him picking up a package of 132 cannabis gummies that had been smuggled in from Thailand. He tried to claim he was using the gummies for his Crohn’s disease, but Indonesia ain’t playin’ around when it comes to drugs. They don’t mess around with that stuff over there. Jarred got the boot from his team and got slapped with a lifetime ban from the Indonesian Basketball League. But that’s the least of his worries now.

The Indonesian authorities are known for their zero tolerance stance on drugs, with hundreds of people on death row for similar offenses. Shaw tried to explain that he needed the gummies for his health condition, but it looks like it’s not gonna fly in court. He’s stuck in a dingy cell with a bunch of other dudes, waiting for his day in court. If the judge finds him guilty, he could be looking at spending the rest of his days behind bars or even facing the ultimate punishment. It’s a real mess, and poor Jarred is feeling the weight of it all on his shoulders.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Jarred Shaw really got himself into a pickle this time. Not really sure why this matters, but it looks like he’s gonna have a tough road ahead. We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out for the fallen basketball star.
